Democrats are trying to ram another bill down the throats of Americans without much thought for the actual outcomes of the bill. And they’re trying to do it by TOMORROW! Get informed by reading the article below and others that are coming out by the dozens today. Then call your representative and let them know how you feel! I just called mine.
WSJ’s “Cap & Tax Fiction” – “The biggest doozy in the CBO analysis was its extraordinary decision to look only at the day-to-day costs of operating a trading program, rather than the wider consequences energy restriction would have on the economy. The CBO acknowledges this in a footnote: ”The resource cost does not indicate the potential decrease in gross domestic product (GDP) that could result from the cap. The hit to GDP is the real threat in this bill. The whole point of cap and trade is to hike the price of electricity and gas so that Americans will use less…”
Cap-and-trade does more harm than good – “While U.S. officials vowed to learn from Europe’s mistakes, the bill sponsored by Reps. Henry Waxman (D., Calif.) and Edward Markey (D., Mass.) has many of the same flaws and adds massive “offsets” that blow away the “cap” in “cap-and-trade.” Offsets allow polluters to, for example, pay to preserve an acre of forest so they can continue burning coal above the cap. The concept’s problems are legion and well-documented.”
Please know: I am black; I grew up in the segregated South. I did not vote for Barack Obama; I wrote in Ron Paul’s name as my choice for president.
Most importantly, I am not race conscious. I do not require a black president to know that I am a person of worth, and that life is worth living. I do not require a black president to love the ideal of America.
I cannot join you in your celebration. I feel no elation. There is no smile on my face. I am not jumping with joy. There are no tears of triumph in my eyes. For such emotions and behavior to come from me, I would have to deny all that I know about the requirements of human flourishing and survival, – all that I know about the history of the United States of America, all that I know about American race relations, and all that I know about Barack Obama as a politician. I would have to deny the nature of the “change” that Obama asserts has come to America. (more…)
I don’t know what to say about this other than my thoughts and prayers go out to these people. I can’t believe it. You need to hear the whole thing. Obama’s response: “I want to start off by being very clear that it is up to Iranians to make decisions about who Iran’s leaders will be; that we respect Iranian sovereignty… We will continue to pursue a tough, direct dialogue between our two countries, and we’ll see where it takes us.” Way to be tough, Obama. Seems he’s more outraged at water boarding than this.
I remember when President George W. Bush called Iran, Iraq, and North Korea the “axis of evil.” The media response was tepid at best but more often appalled that Bush called out these specific countries as worse than others. Well here we are now. Iraq is no where the threat that Iran and North Korea are… both of whom are pursuing nuclear weapons. President Bush had the foresight to see that these countries were a threat and to neutralize one of them. I can only hope Obama has the guts to do the same.
“They are killing students with axe. You know they put the axe through the heart of young men. It’s so… devastating. I don’t know how to describe it. I can’t find the words, but this is horrific. This is genocide. This is a massacre. This is Hitler! You people should stop it. I mean, it [starting to cry] long time we have been exposed to this and nobody takes action. It’s time to act!” – Iranian woman
I’m a home grown American citizen, 53, registered Democrat all my life. Before the last presidential election I registered as a Republican because I no longer felt the Democratic Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. Now I no longer feel the Republican Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. The fact is I no longer feel any political party or representative in Washington represents my views or works to pursue the issues important to me. There must be someone. Please tell me who you are. Please stand up and tell me that you are there and that you’re willing to fight for our Constitution as it was written. Please stand up now. You might ask yourself what my views and issues are that I would horribly feel so disenfranchised by both major political parties. What kind of nut job am I? Will you please tell me?
Well, these are briefly my views and issues for which I seek representation…”
In a world of deceit, trickery, lies, and manipulation, the general public has to always keep a look out for those who want to scam them. Probably a majority of the public would say that they mistrust politicians the most and that what a politician says usually does not reflect what they do. Hiding behind an idea – such as global warming, a program, or a policy to achieve other goals is a tried and true tactic of many politicians. By manipulating the public to believe in the unproven theory of global warming, politicians use it as a disguise to raise taxes and enlarge government.
Global warming is the idea that contaminating the atmosphere with pollutants originating from humans – such as carbon dioxide – could result in the warming of the earth. In turn, this warming may have many other disastrous effects. Global warming is a theory, meaning it has not been proven for or against. Data regarding global warming goes both ways. For example… (more…)
I’m glad my “silly post” (on Facebook) has inspired an intelligent (for the most part) debate! Okay, so firstly, none of us are as qualified as Sarah Palin. It’s egotistical and arrogant to even compare. She runs the largest state in the nation. She runs it with budget surpluses. She gives tax money back to her fellow Alaskans every year. Until you or I do anything close to the job she’s done with Alaska… it’s truly silly to compare us to her.
Moving on… I’m a little confused… Ben, you’re probably busy with more important things (like becoming a father, which is awesome), but I need help understanding a couple of points. First off, please explain to me the “dire situation [of] the last 8 years of Bush-madness.” This is an oft-repeated phrase across the liberal-dominated media of MSNBC, CNN, CBS, etc… and was a mantra of Obama’s campaign. But I’m still baffled by the statement. You also mentioned that “capitalist programs have failed and put people in dire situations.” I’ll admit that horribly misguided government policies helped cause this recession we see ourselves in at the moment. But I will deny you the pleasure of blaming it all on Bush. In fact, the trigger of this recession can be traced back to the failed economic policies of the Carter administration and expanded during the Clinton years. By making it illegal NOT to loan money to sub-prime borrowers, the US Government – led by the DEMOCRAT party – forced the private sector to engage in a business they would have never initiated under their own powers. The entire sub-prime mortgage crisis was completely a US Government blunder. Inspired with good motives – helping those who could not afford mortgages get loans anyways – the outcomes of these policies are only now starting to be realized. Bush – following the economic success modeled during the Reagan years – led the United States out of a minor recession in 2000, navigated the terribly murky economic waters after 9/11, and made economic policies that resulted in the US leading its peer group (Canada, EU, Japan) in “real GDP growth, investment, industrial production, employment” (wikipedia). When it came to regulating the “evil” lenders, Bush’s administration tried SEVENTEEN times to bring these lenders under control, but he and his colleagues were blocked every time. (more…)
“When there are few clouds in the sky, temperatures typically are warmer, Spencer said, and when it is cloudy outside, conditions typically are cooler.
Is it possible then, Spencer asked, that decreasing clouds in recent decades caused the warmings recorded on Earth?
Spencer said he asked the IPCC about this and was surprised to learn that the organization had not researched this point and had assumed that cloud cover does not change over time but is fairly consistent.”
