Democrat Congresswoman is Absolutely Full of it.

Democrat Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee completely avoids questions about her incredibly rude treatment of a constituent.  Finally she insinuates that this YouTube video was actually doctored.  No, Ms. Jackson-Lee, but your health insurance reform sure could use some doctoring.  Oh, and next time?  Excuse yourself when you’re going to answer a call.

I’d Like to Debate Obama

20081008_obama_pointing_finger_yellingAmokTimeFIghtSo, assuming no change in the US Constitution, I’d be able to run for President in the 2020 election (seeing as how I’d be over 35 years old).  I’m not saying I actually want to be President.  But today, after seeing Star Trek for the second time, I was debating with my sister and my friend on whether the movie took place around the year 2300 or the year 23000.  As a former Trekkie and as the former Vice President of the 4th Grade Star Trek Fan Club, I was rather confident the movie took place around the year 2300 (you see, the first warp flight supposedly takes place in 2063 after mankind’s 3rd World War, and then it’s the Vulcans who realize that the humans have discovered this technology and they… well, you get the point).  Anyways, as I was passionately debating my stance outside the men’s and women’s bathrooms, I realized how much fun it would be to debate President Barack Obama.  By that time, he’ll be ending his 3rd term in office, right?  So yeah, it’d be fun to be a Presidential candidate so I could have the chance to debate him.  As soon as I debate him, I’d probably pull out of the race so I can focus on my family and my business and let my Vice Presidential nominee, Palin (or Gingrich or Jindal or whomever), takeover.  Anyways, those are my thoughts for this evening.  Oh… and the movie takes place mainly in the year 2258.

St. Louis Tea Party: A HUGE Success

People Singing the National Anthem

People Singing the National Anthem

Today I travelled with two friends to attend the Tea Party hosted in Washington, MO.  What an inspirational event!  So many people (about 3000 I heard) came out to support the tried and true conservative values of freedom, independence, and self-preservation.  There were so many great signs, t-shirts, and speeches.  Highlights for me were hearing from Curtis, an 18-year-old blogger at www.gatewaypatriot.com, hearing from Dr. Gina Loudon on how to promote legislative change, and hearing from Dana Loesch, a very passionate radio host.

What Qualifies as Propaganda?

IMG_0332IMG_0329So, there I was standing in line at Walmart the other day.  I picked up a reprint of Time’s 2004 pictorial issue all about D-Day, self described as a “reissue of the 2004 Time Classic.”  And, I know, this is such a little thing, but it just adds to the bigger picture of how astonishingly liberally bent 95% of mainstream media is.  So I’m flipping through the pages and I land on this one big, glossy picture of a factory in New Orleans that manufactured landing boats for the D-Day invasion.  In that picture you see the workers busily assembling the landing boats with a oversized banner hanging above them that says, “The guy who relaxes is helping the axis” [see right].  Now that all seems logical to me.  Don’t slack off, cause the Nazis are taking over the world, right?  But the 2004 caption by the Time magazine writers says, “ON THE DOUBLE:  Urged on by a propaganda poster, workers in one of the Higgins’ seven factories in New Orleans churn out his landing boats.”  Propaganda?  Prop-a-gan-da??  At first I was mad.  Then I was confused.  Maybe I got the definition of propaganda wrong.  So I looked it up!  Propaganda according to my MacBook Pro dictionary dashboard widget means, “cheifly derogatory information; esp. of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view.”  Am I missing something here?  How is this poster propaganda at all?!  It’s not!  Nazis were evil!  Americans were out to save the world!  And yeah, if you relax, you were indirectly helping the Axis.  I see no propaganda here.  Well, what can I say Time Magazine writers… way to call the kettle black.

My Response to Global Warming Arguments

global_warming_by_teabingBelow is an ongoing, thoughtful discussion between a friend and I regarding global warming and cap and trade.  The response I wrote was way too long for facebook, so I’m posting it here.  My thoughts are in blue.  His are in black.

Ok, let’s look at it this way…. : )

we insure our cars, health, and home, expecting nothing bad to happen… Thousands of dollars a year go down the drain for a minor probability of actually using the $ we invested… everyone supports this system.

Everyone supports this system because people have the FREEDOM to choose who they want to insure with, how much they’ll pay, or even, whether or not they want a car or health care or a home to insure.

Insuring that we avoid catastrophic consequences of the scientific communities’ projections of climate change seems like the prudent thing to do, EVEN if there is a not a high probability of it happening (which there is, according to the people who actual study the climate).

Not everyone who studies the climate believes that global warming is real. If it were real, why would CO2 levels keep going up over the past decade while the global temperatures have consistently declined each year of the last ten years? Continue reading after the jump…

If Obama were George W. Bush…

obamacommielogo

An email that got forwarded to me today… thought I’d post for all to see!

If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special Olympics, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given Gordon Brown a set of inexpensive and incorrectly formatted DVDs, when Gordon Brown had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing videos of his speeches, would you have thought this embarrassingly narcissistic and tacky…

Cap and Tax: NOT Good for America

wallet_burning_moneyDemocrats are trying to ram another bill down the throats of Americans without much thought for the actual outcomes of the bill.  And they’re trying to do it by TOMORROW!  Get informed by reading the article below and others that are coming out by the dozens today.  Then call your representative and let them know how you feel!  I just called mine.

WSJ’s “Cap & Tax Fiction” – “The biggest doozy in the CBO analysis was its extraordinary decision to look only at the day-to-day costs of operating a trading program, rather than the wider consequences energy restriction would have on the economy. The CBO acknowledges this in a footnote: ”The resource cost does not indicate the potential decrease in gross domestic product (GDP) that could result from the cap.  The hit to GDP is the real threat in this bill. The whole point of cap and trade is to hike the price of electricity and gas so that Americans will use less…”

Cap-and-trade does more harm than good – “While U.S. officials vowed to learn from Europe’s mistakes, the bill sponsored by Reps. Henry Waxman (D., Calif.) and Edward Markey (D., Mass.) has many of the same flaws and adds massive “offsets” that blow away the “cap” in “cap-and-trade.” Offsets allow polluters to, for example, pay to preserve an acre of forest so they can continue burning coal above the cap. The concept’s problems are legion and well-documented.”
